Trudy BoschOur employees are the heartbeat of our agency. In an organization as large as ours, our employees are as diverse as the positions they occupy.

We recently reached out to some of our direct care workers – those who work directly with our clients – to learn more about them. We wanted to get a sense of what their day-to-day work lives are like, but also ask a few more personal questions to get a sense of who they are.

Heidi Norwig, a worker in the Family Treatment Program, was the first to respond to our inquiry. The family program was created to improve family safety, family functioning, and child well-being so families can remain together safely. In her role, she works with families to teach basic life skills, such as how to use the transportation system, budgeting, making childcare arrangements, and how to use other agencies for support.

Q: What is the toughest part of your job?
The toughest part about my job would be not seeing families succeed in our program.

Q: What is the best part of your job?

Seeing families come together and rebuild their attachments and love for one another. Watching families grow together and leave our program thriving.

Q: What is the best gift you have ever received and why?

An engraved rock from a youth who I worked with on the residential side (of the agency). The rock was from her home community and it reminds me of her and was such a thoughtful gift.

Q: What song(s) are on your current playlist?

  • Summer of 69’- Bryan Adams
  • Uproar- Lil Wayne
  • Love someone- Brett Eldredge

Q: What is your favorite way to spend a day off?

Sleeping in and hanging out with my dogs and family😊

Staff in the program are experts in their fields and highly trained. Last year, 58 families came through the program and 64 per cent of them were reunited.
