ECS to continue pro bono counselling sessions

Ehrlo Counselling Services (ECS) will continue supporting the mental health and wellness of people in the community through pro bono counselling sessions.

With its philosophy rooted in the belief that everyone should have access to mental health services, ECS works with individuals and families to explore options and find support that fits their circumstances. For those experiencing financial hardship, this flexibility can include pro bono counselling services.

“Everyone deserves the opportunity to access support when they need it. We know that reaching out for help can be difficult, and financial barriers can make that even more challenging. Providing pro bono counselling allows us to meet people where they are and help connect them with the support they need,” said Natashia Schoenroth, director of ECS.

In 2025 alone, ECS counselling staff provided 725 pro bono mental health sessions, valued at $116,067. Services included individual and family counselling in areas such as mental health, parenting support, addictions, behavioural difficulties, identity work, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, psychoeducation, treatment planning, advocacy, and training.

This work is made possible through the dedicated efforts of mental health professionals, the support of Ranch Ehrlo Society, and the ongoing generosity of the Saskatchewan Community Foundation.

Thanks to renewed funding from the Saskatchewan Community Foundation’s Anonymous Donor Fund, ECS will continue to extend this support, providing pro bono counselling to hundreds of individuals and families who might otherwise be left without the professional support they need.

This marks the 15th year that the fund has supported ECS with an annual grant of $50,000, helping ensure access to counselling for underserved populations in need of mental health care.

“This funding has made a meaningful difference in our ability to support people who may not otherwise be able to access counselling. It gives individuals and families an opportunity to focus on their well-being and the support they need, without the added worry of how they will manage the cost,” said Natashia.
