Ehrlo Early Learning Centre (EELC) appreciates the importance and value of evaluating its child care services to ensure facilities meet the needs and expectations of those who entrust us with the care of their children.
EELC conducted the 2025 Parent Survey and, in collaboration with Ranch Ehrlo’s quality improvement team, compiled the data for stakeholder review.
The survey was distributed to families accessing child care services across EELC’s five centres. Parents and guardians were invited to participate during October and November 2025, resulting in a survey completion rate of over 70 per cent.
The annual survey was first introduced in 2004 and continues to be a valuable assessment tool.
“We do this because parent voice matters,” explained Karin Duff, director of early learning. “While we may feel confident in the work we are doing, it is only through formal, measurable feedback that we can truly assess our impact and identify areas for growth.”
Survey respondents were incredibly positive with favourable comments in areas concerning communication, staffing model, programming, logistics, and atmosphere.
Feedback from the survey identified strengths of EELC and provided valuable insights in areas that can be enhanced. Some survey respondents noted the challenges and provided recommendations as they related to the cancellation of excursions due to a lack of volunteers. Leadership is reviewing this feedback and evaluating what can be done to address the concern and increase volunteer capacity through parents or extended family members.
The annual parent survey is just one conduit for parent feedback. Families also have the opportunity to provide feedback through the EELC parent advisory committee, which meets quarterly each year, in addition to the fall Open House. Parents are also encouraged to address concerns about daily care or specific items as they may arise.
“It’s important for EELC to continually evaluate our program which is in line with the greater Ranch philosophy to strive to be the best that we can be,” said Karin. “We will never achieve perfection, but the way we can be our best is by reviewing our standards of practice and care and to evolve and adapt as we need.”
