Staying in with the family got a lot more exciting thanks to a continuing partnership between Ehrlo Sport Venture (ESV) and Jays Care Foundation – the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Jays Care Foundation began partnering with ESV in 2018 with the launch of the Ehrlo Baseball Rookie League and continues to support the league.
The Family Night at Home program started with Jays Care Foundation’s desire to provide COVID-19 relief to some Toronto-area families and help some local restaurants in the process. This spring they offered to run the family program in Regina.
This spring they offered to run the family program in Regina.
Tyler Sinke with Jays Care explained, “We have worked with ESV for years, and we admire its support of youth and families in the community.”
The Family Night at Home program provides families with three Saturday evenings of food and fun. The evenings ran on consecutive weeks starting April 2nd.
“We supply the funds so that ESV can provide 25 families in Regina with three Saturdays of dinners delivered to their homes from a local restaurant and entertainment kits. Each evening has a different activity: movie night, a karaoke kit, and paint night. We find these activities encourage families to have fun with each other,” Tyler concluded.
Gloria Patrick, ESV program manager added, “We are also able to help a local business that may have been struggling due to the pandemic. We have partnered with Fresh and Sweet to deliver delicious meals to the families.”
The families who were chosen to participate have participated in ESV leagues throughout the year and/or may be undergoing hardships.
Gloria added, “Our families had a great time taking part in such a wonderful program. They got to enjoy amazing food and spend quality time together as a family. This program was a great opportunity to continue to build relationships with families that use our services and the community.”
