Ehrlo Sport Venture players will be taking part in Regina’s winter festival Frost in February.

Following the Frost committee opening ceremonies on February 4th at 7 p.m., four Outdoor Hockey League teams (OHL) will take to the NHL-sized rink on Wascana Lake. The 40 players will be made up of youth aged seven to nine. They will play two games with an intermission in between the games.  Frost has also arranged to have a DJ to play during the event.

“Sport Venture was asked to participate in Frost because of the history and rationale that drives our OHL,” explained Gloria Patrick, manager of Ehrlo Sport Venture. “They were impressed by the league and wanted to offer our players an opportunity to play and participate in this special and unique event!  It’s truly a celebration of hockey and community.”

Sport Venture staff will also be on hand to hand out promotional information about the programs and answer any questions from the community.

Gloria added, “Sport Venture is excited to be involved with Frost as it’s an opportunity to highlight the league’s players, encourage teamwork, and outdoor recreation. Sport Venture has been able to build new relationships with the festival organizers who have a shared passion for outdoor play. Participating in Frost this year will certainly be a highlight for our players!”

All the youth playing will get to keep their jerseys, toques and will receive medals at the end of the games. Everyone is welcome to come out and cheer them on!

The OHL offers free-of-charge recreational hockey opportunities for families who are unable to participate in traditional, organized sports. All equipment is provided, thereby eliminating the need for hard-to-afford purchases like helmets, pads, and skates.
