All good things must come to an end, and with that, we’ve reached the end of 26th annual Outdoor Hockey (OHL) season.

Players and coaches alike made it through one of the coldest winters in Regina over the past 80 years.

“Our league is built around the outdoor rink and the community that these rinks inspire,” explained Sport Venture manager Amanda McConnell. “Unfortunately, this season we had to cancel many practices because of the brutal cold, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm for the game.”

“Sometimes that meant she just popped by to say ‘hi’, brought extra equipment, or laced up her skates and helped coach. She was a liaison between Sport Venture and families, and she helped to oversee the running of each game and practices,” stated Amanda.

After each season, Sport Venture sends out a parent satisfaction form. One hundred per cent of guardians agreed that they would participate in the league again. Here are a few comments:

  • “I really appreciate the OHL. Under the guise of hockey, my children have learned life skills such as teamwork, leadership, diligence and treating others with respect.”
