Registration now open for 2026 Outdoor Hockey League

Ehrlo Sport Venture’s Outdoor Hockey League (OHL) will drop the puck on its 2026-27 season January 9 at the Brandt Centre.

As Sport Venture’s longest-running league and possibly its most well-known, the OHL gives youth across Regina the opportunity to play recreational hockey at outdoor rinks throughout the city.

With the high cost of registration fees and equipment putting organized hockey out of reach for many families, the OHL removes those barriers and gives children the chance to get on the ice, regardless of their experience or financial circumstances.

The free league operates out of eight outdoor rinks across Regina: Imperial, Core Ritchie, Cathedral, Glen Elm, Rosemont, Eastview, Grassick and McMurchy.

At its heart, the OHL is about bringing players, volunteer coaches and families together to enjoy the game. It puts the focus back on the simple joy of hockey, giving kids the chance to grab a stick, chase the puck and be part of a team without the pressure and expense that can come with organized sport.

Players of all experience levels are welcome, and Sport Venture helps ensure they have what they need to participate. Through its equipment lending library, the organization provides protective gear, including pads, helmets and skates, for the season.

For the second year, Sport Venture has also partnered with OneHoop and Hockey Regina to connect 30 Indigenous players with the First Shift program. Designed for Indigenous youth ages six to 10 who have never played organized hockey, First Shift gives participants their own hockey equipment and introduces them to the sport through a six-week program focused on building skills and confidence on the ice.
