Volunteer highlight: Gord Pritchard
For the past five seasons, Gord Pritchard, CEO of the Regina Pats, has been a dedicated volunteer coach with Ehrlo Sport Venture’s Outdoor Hockey League (OHL). Now celebrating its 33rd season, the OHL provides access to sport for equity-deserving youth who might not otherwise have the opportunity to play.
A strong advocate for the league and organization, Gord believes deeply in the power of sport to transform lives.
“I am a big believer and supporter of the OHL and Sport Venture, I truly believe in their mission of eliminating financial and equipment barriers to accessing sport for young people in our community,” said Gord. “Sports are such a great way to learn, grow, and develop skills such as communication, perseverance, commitment, and teamwork - which are important to find success in school and life.”
Gord understands that hockey is about far more than time on the ice. It’s about belonging, confidence, mentorship, and the life lessons that come with being part of a team. Through his steady presence and hands-on support, he has helped create a space where young people feel seen, valued, and capable.
“Gord truly understands the power of sport,” said Gloria Patrick, program manager. “He doesn’t just show up - he connects with our youth, encourages them, and reminds them that they matter. His leadership and dedication mean so much to our league.”
Whether he’s offering guidance on skills, coaching from the bench, or lending his expertise to strengthen the program, Gord leads with heart. His commitment reflects a deep belief in giving back to the community and ensuring that every young person has the chance to experience the joy and benefits of participation.
“Having someone like Gord involved sends a powerful message to our players,” Gloria added. “It tells them that their community believes in them.”
Gord further reflected, “I feel privileged to help support the OHL and Sport Venture in their mission and assist in providing young hockey players the opportunity to play the game we’re all so passionate about.”
