The ISL program and Respite Home will serve adults experiencing disability and/or lower adaptive functioning who:
-
are 21 years or older
-
do not have medical or behavioural support needs that surpass what a supportive living program can provide
-
are involved in a vocational or day program, and/or working within the community and able to take the bus to and from work
The Respite Care program will serve adults experiencing disability and/or medical challenges, as well as children and youth who require respite care.
Participants in ISL homes must follow the same rules as any other tenant, as outlined in the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006. This includes things like keeping their home clean, keeping noise down (especially between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.), not damaging property, and not being violent or threatening.
Each participant decides what is and isn’t allowed in their home through a supported decision-making process. This process respects their choices while still following the rules in their tenancy agreement.
If a participant wants to use alcohol or drugs, they will work with a medical professional as part of that decision-making process.
