Program excellence at Ranch Ehrlo is rooted in its ability to respond to the evolving needs of the people it serves. When a need for care is identified and gaps in service emerge, the guiding question remains simple: how can we help?

Community Living Supports (CLS) reflects this commitment in action, offering respite services to members of the public and to referring agencies. These services are provided by our specialized, cohesive team and include respite care, delivered within family homes, as well as a dedicated respite home operated and staffed by Ranch Ehrlo person-centred support caregivers.

Over time, the focus of the respite home has evolved in response to community needs. What began as a general respite service has grown into a more specialized care environment for children and youth experiencing disabilities and complex medical challenges. While the philosophy of care remains grounded in person-centred and compassionate support, the program has adapted to provide more medically focused services.

To reflect this evolution, the program will now be known as the Medical/Respite Home. This updated designation recognizes the level of care being provided by a multidisciplinary team, including a registered nurse (RN), a licensed practical nurse (LPN), a registered psychiatric nurse, team members who are working towards their nursing credentials, and person-centred support workers with a variety of educational backgrounds (e.g., speech language pathology, psychology, disability studies). All team members are trained in the various medical supports and interventions that are needed to support each child’s medical complexities and are overseen by the staff RN.

This transition represents a deepening commitment to ensuring that children, youth, and families receive the specialized care they need, when they need it most.
