An artistic success once again, this year's 19th annual Art from the Heart celebration was held at Liski Gymnasium in Schaller Education Centre.

For the past 19 years, Ranch Ehrlo participants from across the province have submitted their artwork for a chance to be featured in the annual Art from the Heart calendar.

“I tell our winners, when your artwork is selected, you are instantly famous,” stated Hayley Maurer, principal at Schaller Education Centre.

The calendar is distributed to a variety of special recipients including staff, board members, referring agencies, and community partners.

The winning participants were on hand to take pictures, talk about their art, and, perhaps most importantly, sign their artwork in the fresh-off-the-press calendars that were available for all to take home.

Artwork from a wide range of mediums was on display this year, including a metal KFC logo created by one youth who described the detailed process of using a plasma cutter.

“I like making logos with a plasma cutter. It uses hot plasma to cut through metal. I painted it black with spray paint because you can only use certain types of paint on metal,” he explained.

Throughout the many years, employees have enjoyed admiring the beautiful artwork of our participants and getting their signed calendars to display at work, home, or to give as gifts.

Next year is our 20th anniversary of Art from the Heart. “It’s going to be a big celebration and I have a big surprise in store for everyone,” exclaimed Hayley.

Stay tuned for next year's art adventures.
