The community has rallied in support of Ranch Ehrlo’s family programs, donating gifts and making monetary contributions to make the season brighter for children and their parents.

The family programs received approximately $4,500 in contributions, 10 Western Hockey League (WHL) tickets, and a plethora of children’s toys, games, and craft supplies.

Kim Oberthier, realtor with RE/MAX Crown Real Estate, gifted 10 WHL tickets and $200 to Ranch Ehrlo in hopes that families will create special and lasting memories together.

“I wanted to give the tickets to people who wouldn’t otherwise go to a game," she said, adding the additional money was for families to purchase drinks and snacks at the arena. “I hope the families enjoy the experience, soak up the atmosphere, and have fun together.”

Additional donations were made by RBC Royal Bank ($1,500), Henderson Insurance ($1,000), McKarrs Furniture ($1,000), The Medicine Shoppe #293 ($500), Prairie South School Division office staff ($255), and Prairie Gun Traders ($250).

A toy drive was also organized by local resident and small business owner, Tammy Campbell-Jones, who wanted to do good and help benefit families in need.

“The services FTP provide to families are invaluable, and I wanted to contribute to their efforts to make this holiday season a little brighter for those they serve,” she explained.

The donations will be used to benefit the programs’ Christmas parties where families will enjoy a festive evening complete with food, family games, crafts, and an appearance and gift delivery by Santa himself.

“Many of our families are away from their home communities and extended family during the holiday season so this generosity and these small gestures are really big things for these families, especially at Christmas time,” said Martha Ziffle, family treatment leader.

The annual family program Christmas parties not only provide opportunity for parents and children to gather in unity, but it provides the families the chance to create new traditions and lasting memories.

“To have the opportunity to just be a family and to celebrate with each other, with staff, and other parents and children brings such joy to everyone,” said Martha.

“These parents want to make the holiday season extra special because in a lot of instances it is the first time they are celebrating Christmas with their children, or it may be the first time they are celebrating it sober,” she added. “This is such a critically important time to create beautiful and healthy memories.”
