Change can bring uncertainty, but in this case, it also brings the promise of efficiency and user-friendliness.
The move to an online housing application for Ehrlo Housing has been in the works for a while, sparked by early conversations around making the process smoother for applicants and more aligned with the newly updated website. It also aligns with broader industry standards and technology trends – moving more services online.
“There will still be paper forms floating around the community and among referring agencies,” said Shelley Sayer, director of Ehrlo Housing, “however, the online application will be preferred.”
That preference is based on more than just convenience. Shelley said the digital form will expedite and bring ease to the application process both for prospective tenants and the team processing applications. That’s no small thing for Ehrlo Housing, which receives approximately 20 applications each month – far more than the number of available units.
“The information that was included in the previous application is still included on the online application form, but an additional layer of verification is built within – ensuring only eligible applicants are able to complete and submit the application,” explained Shelley.
Built-in checks will notify applicants if they don’t meet eligibility criteria or income thresholds. This prevents applicants from investing time in a process they’re not eligible for, while saving staff time too. The online application also provides applicants with peace of mind, as a secure form with enhanced security features designed to protect personal and confidential information.
All in all, the shift to digital is expected to bring both simplicity and speed to a process that affects unserved[TB1] communities, and when time matters, that’s a benefit worth embracing.
