At Ranch Ehrlo, stories of personal and professional transformation unfold every day – but few demonstrate the power of opportunity and employer support quite like Zach Aldom’s.
Zach began his career with Ranch Ehrlo in 2018 as a multiple program worker. Within just eight months, he discovered a strong passion for working with youth, which inspired him to pursue a full-time youth care worker position at Hilsden House in Regina. After two years in that role, Zach was promoted to youth care leader at Appleton House on the Pilot Butte campus.
Driven by a desire for continued growth and new challenges, Zach has stepped in to cover various manager vacancies over the years. In 2023, he was selected for a mentorship role, providing guidance and support to staff in northern programs.
Earlier this spring, Zach was approached by leadership to take on a term position as program manager of Klassen House, located on the Buckland campus just outside of Prince Albert.
As someone always looking to grow and support the agency, Zach didn’t hesitate to jump at the opportunity. He made the move north and assumed his new role on April 21st, settling into life in a more remote part of the province.
“I’ve always been agency-minded as far as wanting to help where I can, and I thought this was a great opportunity to make a short-term difference while getting hands-on management experience.”
Zach has always strived for growth and greatness in his career. He explained that Ranch Ehrlo has supported this desire by providing diverse opportunities, additional training, and experiential learning to help shape his path and advance his career along the way.
“If you are someone who seeks opportunities for growth Ranch Ehrlo is really great at helping you find ways to make that happen,” he said.
Zach is committed to making the most of his term at Klassen House by fully immersing himself in the management role and gaining a thorough understanding of backend operations, administrative duties, and leadership responsibilities. Some of his key priorities have been developing the summer staffing schedule, aligning practices with policy standards, and fostering the growth and support of the Klassen staff. He looks forward to continuing this journey, leading with passion and purpose.
“There are great opportunities here at the Ranch – you just have to be willing to take them when they’re offered,” he said.
