Ribbon skirts blitz!

In anticipation of attending a round dance in Regina, a staff member in the Family Centred Addiction Program (FCAP) decided to make traditional ribbon skirts for participants to wear to the event.

Kellee Leader, family treatment worker, successfully made 14 ribbon skirts in nine hours!

Deena Hall, clinical manager, said, “Through a sharing circle with an elder, we found out that the families wanted to have their own skirts to wear to the event.”

Working with the families, Kellee and Rhiannon Rusk, Family Treatment Program coordinator, purchased the material for the skirts.

Kellee said, “I did it because I care a lot about the families, and I am always looking for new ways to show my appreciation and respect for Indigenous cultures and the families we work alongside.”

In the end, the skirts were ready for everyone to wear to the round dance hosted by the Regina Police Service.

This was the first time participants from the Moose Jaw program attended the event.
