What to know about our Moose Jaw expansion

Ranch Ehrlo Society is expanding its supportive housing program to 1101 Grafton Avenue, after more than a decade of providing supportive housing services in Moose Jaw.

We understand and acknowledge that some community members believe we haven’t properly introduced ourselves.

We have been part of the Moose Jaw community for over 10 years, and since 2020, we’ve operated this program on the east side of town. This new location is simply an extension of that same program, which has operated successfully, with no significant issues reported by neighbours or local businesses.

Rumors and misinformation have been circulating about the nature of this program, so we would like to take this opportunity to share some information.

About our program
This is a supportive housing program designed to meet each family’s unique needs. Our intention is to provide services to families facing a range of challenges, including parenting, mental health, and addictions. No two families are the same, but they all share a common goal: they have chosen to participate in this program to heal and strengthen their families.

Our plan is to gradually welcome up to 16 families over the course of the year. This will be done thoughtfully and in a way that supports both the families and the surrounding community. Families will receive around-the-clock support from a team of trained professionals to help them build stability and work toward long-term success. We are committed to staying within this capacity. The building’s additional suites allow us to prepare fully cleaned, move-in ready units for new families as they arrive.

Ranch Ehrlo Society in Moose Jaw

People in this community have shown us great support over the years, and we are proud to be a part of Moose Jaw – a community we’ve called home for over a decade. We prioritize referrals from Moose Jaw and across Saskatchewan, while also supporting families from other parts of Canada.

Our presence contributes to the local economy in real and meaningful ways. This program will create jobs, bringing additional employment and stability to the community. We purchase all of our furniture from a locally owned business, do our grocery and retail shopping at Moose Jaw stores, and service our vehicles at local repair shops. We also build strong and lasting relationships with local professionals and organizations. We’re not just in Moose Jaw; we are part of Moose Jaw.

Public engagement

This project has moved quickly since we signed the lease for the Chez Nous building on June 11, 2025. Prior to that, we were not in a position to confirm the project publicly or initiate neighbourhood engagement, as we needed to ensure all legal and operational elements were in place.

That said, we acted quickly and in good faith once the lease was signed. Four business days later, we began direct outreach, starting with the adjacent neighbours and then going door-to-door to deliver information (attached is our handout) and speak with several nearby households.

Since that time, we have:

  • Responded to every phone call and email received
  • Extended multiple invitations to meet
  • Encouraged any concerned residents to connect with our Executive Director, Patti Petrucka.

 Our continued commitment
We will be continuing to educate and connect with local residents and concerned community members, and including the offer of additional public information sessions, which were held on July 20, 2025. If anyone from the community has more questions, we encourage you to email us at cheznous@ranchehrlo.ca.

Outcomes and lasting impacts
For Ranch Ehrlo Society, this expansion is more than just housing. It’s about building healthier families and stronger communities.

Since program inception, over 120 families have completed the program. At discharge since inception:

·         80 per cent of families had one or more children remain or reunify with them.

·         A total of 353 children remained or were reunified with families at discharge.

·         At six-month follow-up (2024-25):

o   70 per cent of families remained intact.

o   80 per cent of families state their level of family safety is good to excellent.
