My background

I am a mother of three and a wife and I have worked for Ranch Ehrlo for eight years now.  I started my career straight out of university at the Ranch and have been here since.  I received my Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina.  I also have a Learning Resource teacher designation, which is an extra six courses, offered by the University of Regina.  This is a designation which all Ranch Ehrlo teachers need in order to teach in the Ranch Ehrlo education program.

How I became a teacher at Ranch Ehrlo

I was just finishing my degree and I met someone in one of my classes who asked me if I had a job yet.  I laughed and said no, and asked if she had one for me.  She replied “absolutely,” and she phoned Nancy Underhill instantly.  I received a call the next day, and was hired within a few weeks.  I started out doing some casual shifts in the school and the residential side, then moving over to education as an educational assistant out at Schaller School.  At the end of that school year, I applied for and moved into a teaching position at Stewart Russell Elementary school.  It was a smooth transition from education assistant at Schaller to a teaching position.  From there, I have taught at Glen Elm, Transition Centre and now at Rosemont Community School.  In between there, I have taken two maternity leaves.

I think that Ranch Ehrlo has an outstanding education team.  There are so many teachers, educational assistants, and other people who are incredibly dedicated to ensuring that our kids improve.  Not only is improvement in all areas important, but just ensuring that our clients and youth have a positive experience in school, to really give them something to take away and know that school can be a positive, safe place where they can grow and learn.
