In 1997 the Ranch expanded north. After an extensive search around the city of Prince Albert, we settled on a beautiful piece of land in the RM of Buckland. With the blessing of the reeve and surrounding neighbours, the Ranch established Buckland campus.
The property was previously an acreage with a small house on the property. The original plan was to build a new group home but our services were in such demand that the small house was opened to residents and named Flegel House in honour of Frank Flegel, chairperson of the Ranch Ehrlo board of directors from 1993 to 1995.
Alex Guy House joined the campus soon after, and in June 2001 Klassen House was opened.
From 1998 to 2004, Flegel House was an operational group home. It then closed for a period and reopened as an independent living home for boys after their house in the city was destroyed by fire.
Just over one year ago, the independent living program at Buckland campus ended and the house was vacated once again. As of recent, senior staff have began to explore alternative options to utilize the space and breathe new life into the little house.
