This year marks my sixth and final trip to Africa as part of my contribution to improving education and strategic planning in Blantyre, Malawi.
I have been working with Polytechnic (a constituent college of the University of Malawi) with its governance and strategic planning capacity since 2008, by a Participation Agreement between the University of Regina and Ranch Ehrlo. The project wound up March 31st.
My efforts were part of a larger Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) funded project which includes capacity building at Polytechnic in the areas of policy and planning, management development, curriculum development, research, and distance education.
Malawi is a small, landlocked country bordered by Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zambia. The country is among the world’s least developed nations in the world, and depends heavily on external aid to meet development needs.
