As we continue to honour the spirit and intention of the treaties through truth and reconciliation, Ranch Ehrlo will be replacing the term “residential” with “group living” when referencing agency programs.
The change reflects sensitivity in the spirit of reconciliation. “Given we are situated on Treaty 4 and 6 lands and many of our participants are Indigenous, we understand the term ‘residential’ may cause offence or distress for individuals, families, external stakeholders, and/or community members”, explained Natalie Huber, CEO. “We are committed to truth and reconciliation and we understand there is a need for more learning and reflection.,” Huber added.
As we continue our journey, we will always consider the impact of language in the delivery of our programs and services.
