Ranch Ehrlo Society has been recognized for its role in supporting individuals and families in need of affordable housing.
Ranch Ehrlo Society’s Ehrlo Housing was one of five organizations recognized at the 2013 National Housing Day luncheon in Regina on Nov. 15. Other groups recognized included Habitat for Humanity, Silver Sage Housing Corp, Namerind, and Gabriel Housing Corp.
Selected groups were recognized based on duration of service, size of portfolio, support for renters, and participation in local initiatives to sustain and increase the availability of affordable housing in Regina.
“Ranch Ehrlo Society is honoured to be recognized for its achievements in providing sustainable, innovative, and affordable housing,” said Malcolm Neill, vice-president of Residential Services at Ranch Ehrlo.
Ranch Ehrlo Society, through Ehrlo Housing, has provided affordable housing since 1997. The agency currently operates an apartment complex for single adults and single parents, and low-income families; a supportive living accommodation for young single mothers; and provides affordable housing to people living with chronic mental health conditions. Construction is also underway on the CHAZ Court housing project which will accommodate young people transitioning from care, allowing them to live independently.
“The board is very proud of the role that Ehrlo Housing plays in supporting individuals and families in need of affordable housing,” said Debbie McKague, vice-president of the Ranch Ehrlo board of directors. “The board supports various initiatives of Ehrlo Housing including the most recent development of CHAZ Court on Montreal Street.”
Ranch Ehrlo Society’s capacity to partner with community agencies, stakeholders, and all levels of government has provided Ehrlo Housing with the opportunity to continue to develop, deliver, and manage more than 100 affordable units throughout the city of Regina.
Ehrlo Housing tenant Terry-Lynn Triffo spoke firsthand about her experience in the Regina Rental market during the presentation. View terry’s full story here.
“Ehrlo Housing is building affordable housing for the people of Regina, but more importantly, it’s building opportunity,” said Malcolm.
