Our housemom, Cindy purchases food for the house. She plans and buys food for breakfast, lunch, supper and snacks. Breakfast during the week is cereal, muffins and other food served individually as youth wander into the kitchen. On weekends the menu might include pancakes, french toast or other scrumptious breakfast food and is served at 10 a.m. so youth have a chance to sleep in.

Lunch and dinner plans can be found in her special notebook which youth can flip through and see what is being planned for meals during the week. Some houses use menu boards or other devices to let youth know what the meal plan is ahead of time.

Cindy also has other house rules such as fruit is available all the time, and doesn’t need to be eaten only during snacks or as part of a meal plan. It helps kids from hording food. She also has a binder for staff and youth birthdays. This binder has a sheet that all new youth and staff fill out. Things are asked like what are your top 3 favorite meals and 3 favorite desserts. Then on your birthday she uses this book to make our favorite meals and desserts. She is really an amazing house mother!

Cindy also keeps the unit clean and organized. She takes great care of us!
