Ranch Ehrlo Society solicits professional comment and consultation through various mediums. One of the greatest sources of independent review comes from the Ranch Ehrlo Society Senate.
The Senate is a vital component to the structure of Ranch Ehrlo, providing years of combined professional experience and a link to several community contacts.
The Senate is essentially an alumnus group of former members for the Board of Directors, explained Senate member Harvey Lammer.
“The Ranch did not want to lose the knowledge and experience of board members rotating off the board, and so the Senate is an extension of that premise. “
“There are people from all walks of life on the Senate,” Harvey continued. “We all have different areas of interest or specialty; some may be concerned with finances while others may focus on the delivery of services or programs.”
The Senate meets twice per year to discuss developments, debate issues, and ask questions.
“The purpose of the Senate is two-fold,” Harvey explained. “The first is to learn about the progress and growth of programs and facilities. The second is to provide senior management with feedback regarding agency developments or ventures.”
Harvey, a former social worker and long-time associate of Ranch Ehrlo and the late Geoff Pawson, said Senate members bring great value to Ranch Ehrlo, acting as advocates for the agency; helping the organization move forward in the right direction.
“We’re very proud to be a part of Ranch Ehrlo,” he said on behalf of the Senate members. “We are very interested in the life and growth of the organization.”
The role of the Senate may evolve as the agency grows and continues to refine its governance structure, but its advocacy role and important linkages to the community will remain.
