How Schaller School works
Usually each teacher has about eight kids in their classroom. SchallerSchool is more of a stabilization school. Our goal is to help them stabilize themselves so they can move on to the next stage – in-town school placement. There is a lot of transition at SchallerSchool - when kids first arrive, we assess their standing in all subjects to find out their comprehension and abilities in reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and so on.
Due to the nature of Schaller School – being for stabilization -we have a high turnover, so often times we are redoing these assessments every few months as kids move on to in-town placements and new intakes arrive. The odd student will be a long-term placement here, but the majority will stabilize and move on within a few months.
