Jordan House wants to give back to the community but needs your help to do it. The youth and staff are putting together kits for the less fortunate for the holiday season and need donations to help.
“We have seen on the news that places like Mobile Crisis and the Salvation Army have seen an increase in their numbers of people seeking assistance this year thanks to the current COVID-19 Pandemic. In light of the upcoming holiday season, Jordan House is looking to help,” explained Taylor Ward, clinical caseworker.
“The importance of coming together and supporting one another, especially this year, reminds us all that we are connected. For our youth, it teaches them how helping others can also have a positive benefit on our own mental health and wellbeing as helping others can reduce stress and improve overall mood, self-esteem, and happiness,” Taylor added.
Jordan House is looking for donations of the following items before Dec. 21st:
- Mittens
- Scarves
- Toques
- Socks
- Handwarmers
Other items that can be donated include:
- Hygiene products
- Handwarmers
- Tim Horton cards to be donated to Mobile Crisis staff
“Through this, our youth will be creating Blessing Bags that will consist of items from above with a positive message located within the bag for someone in need this holiday season. Our plan is to spread some holiday cheer as our way of giving back to our community and caring for each other during a time where we need to be apart,” Taylor added.
