Life is about continual change.
I set my sights on new opportunity when I chose to transition from the familiarity of a career in journalism to one in communications.
While the road from point A to point B was joined by the bridge of storytelling, it was a road in which I had never considered travelling. That was, of course, until I discovered Ranch Ehrlo Society.
It all began with a simple job search and natural curiosity.
As an Ontario native, I was unfamiliar with the work of the agency. And so, when I came across a job posting I thought, “Ranch Ehrlo Society: who are they? What do they do? Where are they located? And, how do I pronounce the name?”
My inquisitiveness led me on a quest for answers.
Google searches, blogs, and heart-warming videos caught my attention and quickly captivated my emotion.
With residential and family programs, Ehrlo Early Learning, community programs, Ehrlo Community Economic Development and more, it was clear the branches of the Ranch Ehrlo Society spanned far and wide.
I felt an odd pull. It was as if the words that I heard and the images I saw convinced me that Ranch Ehrlo was where I wanted to work, and that this was the move that I was going to make.
In early June, I was fortunate enough to be granted the opportunity to work at the agency, amongst more than 700 other passionate professionals.
While change is always a little challenging, I look forward to the road ahead.
After all, life is about the journey not the destination. It’s the scenery along the way; the bumps, the detours and the untraveled paths that make stories worth remembering and retelling.
I look forward to learning more about the Ranch, but more importantly about the people that weave together to form the fabric of this agency.
Through my role as a communications specialist at Ranch Ehrlo Society, I look forward to sharing the stories that make this agency a success and savior to hundreds of youth, adults and families across Saskatchewan.
