The Outdoor Hockey League (OHL) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. From its humble beginnings in a Regina classroom to a league which is now spread across Saskatchewan, the OHL allows all youth the opportunity to play hockey by removing the financial barriers. Over the next several weeks we will be highlighting stories from volunteers, former players, and the media over the past 20 years. Please tune in weekly for a little piece of hockey history.

Ken Jones has had a tremendous impact on the lives of hundreds of children.

As a volunteer with the Outdoor Hockey League, 350 inner-city youth are given an opportunity to play organized hockey. More importantly, the Outdoor Hockey League has given inner-city families the authority to control their own recreation.

Jones was key in organizing the Outdoor hockey League in the Cathedral area.

Ken also was instrumental in the coordination of the OHL Olympic Hockey Tournament with events in 1998, 2002 and 2006. The Olympics tournaments were exciting events where atom and bantam OHL teams carried in the flag of the nation they were representing during opening ceremonies which also featured the reading of the Olympic oath, national anthems, and attendance of dignitaries and fans.
