Working as a communications specialist at Ranch Ehrlo for almost three years now, I’ve been fortunate to be able to share a lot of stories with you via this blog. One of my favourite ways to do that is to use this outlet to showcase our dedicated staff, who are all working toward the best possible outcome for each of our clients.
With that in mind, I’d like to share a story about how a shy, introverted youth who had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with the help of a few wonderful staff.
Rae* is a talented comic artist with an enthusiastic interest in all things anime. As a way for Rae to increase her confidence level, Ranch education staff Josh Hughes secured tickets for Rae and a staff member to attend Fan Expo in Regina, a pop culture event highlighting – you guessed it - anime and comics!
But a problem arose – Josh was unable to take Rae to the event himself. This is where the teamwork between our staff really shone.
Although not on shift, youth care worker Pita Tuiloma stepped in to accompany Rae to Fan Exo. It was a wonderful experience for Rae – she got to meet her favourite voice actor, and spent the entire weekend teaching Pita about the anime scene.
Ultimately, two staff, from different departments, with very different jobs, came together for one common goal: to give Rae an everlasting memory where she had the opportunity to come face-to-face with many of her heroes.
