Starting this month, Ranch Ehrlo’s new True Colours Adult Support Group is launching to bring people together in an inclusive space.
The group is open to adults with differing abilities who identify as two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning. Allies are also welcome.
The first meeting is on June 17th. They will be held virtually on Teams and are open to Ranch participants and people in the community.
“This is a time of a lot of isolation and loneliness, especially for populations already segregated and excluded from the community,” explained Sydney Campbell, a clinical consultant with the Ranch who is leading the group. “Their bubbles are already small, so it’s important to get them to a place to have these supports so they can build good relationship skills, have a desire to be independent, and to interact.”
Sydney said these community connections among adults have not been as prevalent as they could be. She hopes this group can build those connections.
“Having a sense of belonging is really important for one’s mental health,” she said. “This lets them build on that and helps develop their own life and independence.”
The group has been opened to the public.
Meetings will also take place on July 22nd and August 19th. Contact Sydney for more information at 306-737-6161 or Sydney.campbell@ranchehrlo.ca or see the attached poster.
