I’m celebrating my one year anniversary at the Ranch this month and it corresponds with the start of the New Year. I’ve learned a lot in my first year at the Ranch like: a lot of employees have the same first name so I better double check when I send an email, don’t tempt the parking meter guy by not moving your car all day because he likes to ticket, blog topics are tricky to find, and the Ranch is a cool, cool place to work.
At first I was blown away by the size of the Ranch and all the services and programs it offers but when I started talking to the program managers I realized they all fit together. They all were created to help children, youth, families and communities.
Resolutions
Eat healthier, quit smoking, be nicer to my brother – these are resolutions I actually accomplished (well maybe not the brother one). I have failed at a lot to – learn to shoot a bow and arrow (too lazy to try) and lose weight (does anyone do this). The problem with a lot of my resolutions is I set too lofty of a goal based on wishful thinking.
This year I want to craft my New Year’s resolution around work, something specific and achievable. I also want to expand on what I have learned in this last year. So my resolution for 2012 will be to visit all the remaining Ranch locations I have yet to see – that means you Corman Park - and learn more about what our front line staff do on a day-to-day basis.
