andreaComing to Ranch Ehrlo is absolutely an adjustment for our youth, but it’s not a punishment, it’s an opportunity.

The youth who come to live in our group homes, attend our schools, and participate in our programming are here for treatment but they’re also here to live their childhood, something they may not have had a chance to do before.

In between therapy, education, chores, and family visits, our youth have the opportunity to discover themselves and the world through play. Activities are a major part of programming here at the Ranch.

The kids may enjoy their own backyard with a game of football; discover the Qu’appelle Valley through geo-caching; or travel hundreds of miles by plane for a week of camping.  Ranch youth have the opportunity to participate in activities, special events, and trips that a lot of children don’t have the chance to experience. So here’s just a taste of what Ranch Ehrlo has on its menu for adventure, excursion, and excitement:

  • Fly-in and remote camping

  • Horse therapy/ riding lessons

  • Canoeing/portaging

  • West Edmonton Mall

  • Special Olympics

  • Meeting professional athletes

  • Fishing

  • Trapping

  • Pow wow

  • Cross country skiing

  • Snowshoeing

  • Paddle boarding

  • Archery

One other unique aspect of living at Ranch Ehrlo is that our youth have the chance to live with up to nine other kids from different walks of life, from across Canada. They create friendships and relationships that may last a life time.

We learn and grow from each experience that we have. Through these activities, youth are encouraged and challenged to use and develop essential life skills such as relationship building, communication, problem solving, and trust.
