Children's Aid FoundationRanch Ehrlo continues to provide enrichment opportunities and supports for children, youth, and families through our partnership with the Children’s Aid Foundation to help distribute the CIBC Miracle Fund in the Regina area.

“The original agreement was signed in December 2004 and to date over $76,000 has been distributed to enhance the physical, mental, social, and developmental wellbeing of disadvantaged, at-risk children and youth,” explains Fund Manager and Ranch VP of Administration and Quality Improvement Carole Bryant.

In 2012, 91 children and youth were helped by the fund in the Regina area. The majority of the funds were spent on personal items for the youth such as eye glasses, winter clothing, baby furniture. The grant also covers sports and recreational activities, arts and cultural activities, and educational activities.  The Ranch can distribute up to $11,250 annually on behalf of the Miracle Fund.

To be eligible for the grant a disadvantaged, at-risk child or youth must be under the age of 21 at the time of the request, have no other sources of funding available to them, have a strong recommendation by agency staff, and a clear indication of how they will benefit from the grant.

“The appreciation the families and children show from receiving the grant is phenomenal. Funds for these enrichment activities are much appreciated in our community,” commented Fund Coordinator and Director of Special Projects as Ranch Ehrlo Jane Powell Showchuk. She highlighted some of the responses below.

  • “We are very thankful for the gift cards that were given to help me buy clothes. It feels really good to know they will be warm for the winter. It was the best feeling in the world to see their big smiles on their faces as they played outside.”

  • “Thank you for contributing to my son's summer camp! He had a wonderful opportunity to work on language and social skills while having a ton of fun.”

  • “Thank you everyone. You are nice people at CIBC. Thank you for the camping and taking care of us.”

In 1999, the CIBC Children’s Foundation and the Children’s Aid Foundation developed and piloted the CIBC Miracle Fund in Toronto. The program was created to enrich the lives of disadvantaged and at risk children and youth.

Ranch Ehrlo has renewed our contract to distribute the grant in the Regina area for 2013.
