Trudy BoschWhen is the last time you looked in your garage or the corner of your basement? Maybe you have an attic full of baseball bats, hockey helmets, or other random sports gear. Maybe you feel like some day you might take up skiing after a six-year hiatus or fit back into your old hockey shoulder pads so you keep hanging on to your old equipment.

What if, instead of just collecting dust, you could spring new life into your old tennis racket or give a kid a chance to play a sport he or she has never had the opportunity to try? Would you?

It’s easy, just donate your gently used sports equipment to the Ehrlo Sport Library in Regina. Ehrlo Sport Venture works to provide inner-city youth and families with control of, and access to, a variety of recreational programs. We want to make it easy for as many families as possible to participate in our programs. We offer free drop-in sports leagues and have a library where anyone can borrow sports equipment, free of charge.

But we rely on the generosity of the community to fund our programs and to build our library inventory. That’s where your old equipment comes in. We appreciate every donation but do, however, have some basic requirements:

  • Equipment must be free from defects that could detract from safe usage.

  • Equipment must be clean.

Just like that, your old skates could be a window into a new world for a youth who has never had the opportunity.

To drop off donations, please visit the Sport Venture Library at 2730-5th Avenue, Regina SK, from Monday to Friday, 1 to 5 p.m.
