School is out at Schaller College.
The Regina-based college has closed its doors — effective March 2014.
The small private vocational school helped prepare students for a career in the field of information technology (IT) for the past eight years. The concept for Schaller College was conceived by Ranch technical resource employee Terry Eisler who identified a need to provide essential, certified computer training for youth who expressed interest in the field.
The school expanded to include students from the community, local businesses, and various programs, in addition to Ranch Ehrlo youth.
Unfortunately the school experienced declining enrollments, a trend that many trade schools are facing in a booming Saskatchewan economy.
Inventory at the college is currently being dispersed to other areas of the Ranch and the lease on the Albert Street location will expire at the end of the month.
Don Bayerle, the instructor at the college, will remain at the agency while he explores his options. Don’s involvement with the college has been appreciated by the agency.
“We would like to thank Don for all of his hard work and dedication to the program over the past eight years,” said Corinna Hayden-Fidler, vice-president of Education.
