The third annual Shaving Heads to Save Babies fundraiser was held at 1881 Scarth St., on Thursday, March 13.

Approximately $7,000 was raised through several generous donations and more than a dozen heads shaved.

Avant-Garde instructor Laurie Mentes said it’s important for schools and businesses to show their community support.

“Community work is really important to be a part of as it goes on to help everybody,” she said.avant-garde

Anela Jakupovic, a student from Avant-Garde, made the decision to have her head shaved for the fundraiser.

“I’ve wanted to shave my head for quite some time, so I thought why not do it for a good cause and raise some money for our community,” she said Thursday afternoon. “It’s not all about looks; we have do some good for the world.”
