Avant-Garde, in partnership with Canadian Western Bank and Beer Bros Gastropub & Deli, raised thousands of dollars for the Regina Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The third annual Shaving Heads to Save Babies fundraiser was held at 1881 Scarth St., on Thursday, March 13.

Approximately $7,000 was raised through several generous donations and more than a dozen heads shaved.

Avant-Garde instructor Laurie Mentes said it’s important for schools and businesses to show their community support.

“Community work is really important to be a part of as it goes on to help everybody,” she said.

Anela Jakupovic, a student from Avant-Garde, made the decision to have her head shaved for the fundraiser.

“I’ve wanted to shave my head for quite some time, so I thought why not do it for a good cause and raise some money for our community,” she said Thursday afternoon. “It’s not all about looks; we have do some good for the world.”
