My term as a summer student is now coming to an end. I was hired to help sort through old photos, videos, and files and create an archive on the Ranch’s history. I enjoyed learning the ways of an archivist and now that I have these skills, I can use them for future references. My favorite part of this job was going through the pictures from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. I’ve never seen pictures that old first hand - ever.

These past few months have been such a dynamic and inspiring learning experience for me. Before I started work at the Ranch, I had no idea what Ranch Ehrlo was about besides a couple programs such as Ehrlo Basketball and Ehrlo Counselling. Learning what the Ranch was about and its history really caught my attention. When I started to become familiar with the mission, vision & culture of Ranch Ehrlo Society, I knew I was going to love working here.

It’s inspiring what the Ranch does for youth. I’m all about the youth & knowing that this could be a possibility or a way for me to give back to my community, it makes me look at what I want to do in the future differently. I love being a role model and/or mentor for youth, I grew up with hardships during my childhood, as well. I understand what some of the youth had to endure, their worries and obstacles because once in my life I had to endure the same things. I know life can be difficult for them and there comes a time in a young person’s life where they may need help to overcome a situation or a problem and Ranch Ehrlo is that help.

The learning experience here has widened my perspective more than ever. I would love to work here again, in any position. Thank you giving me the opportunity of being your summer student, I loved it!
