As the Outdoor Hockey League’s 25th season (OHL) starts, we sat down with long-time volunteer Rob “Chip” Nixon to hear about how he sees the league impacting the lives of those who, thanks to the OHL, get a chance to play “the greatest game on earth”.

 

February is a busy month for Sport Venture – and that means plenty of opportunities for you to get out and take part in our FREE activities!

February 3rd: Equipment Drive at Regina Pats Game
Bring your used equipment down to the Regina Pats vs. PA Raiders game on Friday, February 3rd, to be donated to Sport Venture! Youth who are registered in the OHL will receive free tickets (to be distributed at practice). Two OHL teams will take the ice at the 2nd intermission.

February 6th: Cricket League
Sport Venture and the Regina Rebels Cricket club have formed a partnership to offer a youth cricket league. This will run on Tuesday evenings from 6 – 8 p.m. for six weeks out of Seven Stones Community School, beginning February 6th(more information will be out soon).

February 10th: Hockey Day in Canada
Looking for something to do on February 10th? Why not come down to Sport Venture’s Hockey Day in Canada! Cathedral Rink will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Rosemont location will be hosting from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be free hot dogs and hot chocolate at both rinks!

 February 17th: Hometown Hockey
Farm Credit Canada has provided Sport Venture with 450 tickets to the WHL AllStars vs Team Saskatchewan game at the Brandt Centre. Get tickets by coming down to Grassick rink between 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., where Rogers/SportsNet will be on hand profiling the OHL. There will be hot chocolate and hot dogs available throughout the morning!

Every Friday night in Feb: Friday Night Lights
For the older youth, Friday Night Lights is a new OHL addition. It is an open drop-in scrimmage for youth aged 17 to 21 on Friday evenings at Core Ritchie rink .
