Movember has once again come and gone.  The bro-staches are (thankfully) starting to disappear.  With 447,808 worldwide participants and $76.8 million dollars raised in 2010, odds are you know someone who’s been involved in this marathon ‘stache- grow.

 How Movember works

If you’ve never heard of Movember, here’s how it works.  November 1st clean-shaven guys register at Movember.com, and for the rest of the month they let their upper lips turn into chia pets.  All this is done in the hopes of raising money to help fund prostate cancer education, and research.  Really, it’s a way to get people talking about men’s health issues: a topic that a lot of people (ok, guys) would rather ignore.  As Movember.com puts it, “Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November.”

Can’t grow facial hair? No problem!

Not every man can be a pro facial-hair-grower though; just ask Patrick Kane.  No worries; the Movember folks have you covered.  Can’t grow a ‘stache? Maybe you’re eligible for the Lame Mo prize: “an encouragement award given to our ‘Facial Folically Challenged’ Brethren.”

11 year old Jackson McLean would definitely be eligible for this award. “My name is Jackson McLean,” his Movember.com space proclaimed.  “I'm 11 years old and am too young to grow a mustache. So, I draw one on every day to help raise money for cancer. I would rilly like it if you helped me.”

Last time I checked, Jackson had raised $3,260 and had 134 facebook likes.  Now how awesome is that?  Not only is he helping out a great cause, but he’s also getting an early chance to try out different ‘stache looks before committing to his favorite… that is, when he can, you know, actually grow one.
