About the conference

Knowing how to work with kids in crisis and significant trauma has become a must for professional helpers. Trauma repair: kids in crisis conference is an overview of how the child’s developing brain is affected by traumatic experiences and the adaptive strategies that they employ. It covers the adolescent brain/behaviour that is uniquely challenging, trauma related disabilities such as learning impairments, the impact of trauma on relationships, the role of the adult as co-regulator, and power struggles that the child engages in and some useful ways to help the child manage.

Discussion will include effective ways to communicate and work with a traumatized child, identifying signs and symptoms of trauma, learning how to provide a safe relationship, and what treatment modalities are most effective and why.
