The University of Regina Aboriginal Student Centre’s 4th Annual Tipi Raising Competition will be held Friday, September 30th from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm on the Dr. Lloyd Barber Academic Green at the University of Regina main campus.

The Tipi Raising Competition hosted by the ASC, offers students, employees and community the opportunity to experience constructing a tipi and learn its cultural significance to Aboriginal peoples.

Everyone is welcome to attend and compete. This years’ event includes an instructional tipi raising at 10:30 am, following with the first round of competition at 11:00 am. Competition rounds will begin every half hour, giving teams of four the opportunity to raise a tipi within 20 minutes. Lunch is provided for competitors and volunteers.

There is no cost to attend or compete. Competition categories include Students, Women, and Community. Prize money will be awarded to the top 3 teams in each category.  Please register by Wednesday, September 28th.

There will also be a bbq hosted by the UofR Student’s Union (URSU) on the Green from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Hotdogs $2, Burgers $3, Drinks $1.
