Change is hard. Whether it is a new job, a new diet, or a new place to live – a change can make you feel anxious and scared.
Many of the kids coming to the Ranch for the first time might find the experience a bit scary because they don’t know what to expect.
Do I have to share a room?
What’s the food like?
Can I call my parents and friends?
What will I be doing at the Ranch?
We understand their worries and to help alleviate fear about the unknown, we created a new section on our website . Residents and parents can watch a short orientation video to get an understanding of what happens at the Ranch. English not your first language? Well don’t worry; the video is also in Dene, Cree, and Inuktitut.
The new section also has our resident and, soon to come, parent handbooks which details rights and responsibilities of parents and youth at the Ranch. It also includes a section on information for families, information on our welcome kits for residents, and a virtual tour of the Pilot Butte campus including Schaller School and one of our residential units.
Living at the Ranch is a great experience, filled with new friends, new activities, and hope for a better future. We hope new residents coming to stay at the Ranch find comfort in our additional website information and by eliminating the unknown; it allows them to take advantage of opportunities at the Ranch, that much sooner.
